The Act of Proscription effected on the 1st August 1746, denied the Scottish their right to wear what they wanted and keep their unique pastimes and lifestyle, was repealed on the 1st July 1792.  Waipu has 2 weeks of celebrations whereas the rest of New Zealand is usually only one day!

Auckland Caledonian Tea Dances

The Combined Council of Scottish Societies will be hosting the Tea Dances in 2017 - Dates to be advised.  All are to be held at the Mt Albert Presbyterian Church Hall, 14 Mt Albert Road, Mt Albert, Auckland.  Dancing from 2pm to 6.00pm is a mix of of Old Time, Sequence and your favourite Virginia, Cumberland and Govendale reels.  Home made Afternoon Tea is included with entry.  .

Robert Burns Birthday

25th January every year the celebration, by Scots everywhere, of the Great Poet of Scotland - Robert Burns.

St Andrews' Day

30th November every year the celebration, by Scots everywhere, of the Patron Saint of Scotland - St Andrew.
